Good cocktail/punch recipe for a group?

I'll be hosting a small (10-15 people)holiday cocktail party on a weeknight, and I'm looking for a good (alcoholic) cocktail that I can make in a big batch so that I don't have to play bartender all night. Mulled wine is something I've done before, but I wasn't sure how well that would go with the various appetizers I'm serving.
Anybody have thoughts on a festive cocktail or punch that would fit the bill?
Sangria is always easy.
I recently made a cranberry vodka punch for a dinner party. I think I found the recipe on epicurious. Followed their directions, but added some club soda to give the drink some sparkle. It went over pretty well, and I always associate cranberries with this time of year.
Yesterday I served pomegranite champagne cocktails.
Bottle of pomegranite juice mixed w/ simple syrup w/ a grating of ginger that I made the day before. Added pomegranite seeds to float on top. Let that pitcher sit next to the opened bottle of champagne. It looks very Christmas-y and people seemed to like it (it was mostly women).
I did this for my holiday party last year and it was very good, it's from the food network site from Sara Moulton:
1 cup triple sec
1 cup brandy
1/2 cup Chambord
2 cups unsweetened pineapple juice
1 quart chilled ginger ale
2 chilled (750 ml) bottles dry Champagne
In a bowl combine the triple sec, the brandy, the Chambord and the pineapple juice and chill the mixture, covered, for at least 4 hours or overnight. In a large punch bowl combine the triple sec mixture, the ginger ale, the Champagne, and ice cubes.
