Which Cider for Basting?
I've got a recipe that uses apple cider for the basting liquid. At the local grocery store, I can only find bottles of the clear, yellow liquid labelled as 'cider'. It looks like filtered apple juice to me. I cannot locate any of the dark, unfiltered, brownish stuff. Would the basting liquid be totally off if i used the clear kind?
It should be OK. It won't be as multi-dimensional as unfiltered apple cider, but it certainly shouldn't wreck anything. If you have a health food store nearby (or your grocery store has an organic food section) be sure to check that. I'm pretty sure Trader Joe's carries it too, if you have one of those nearby.
