Baking in Britain

Does anyone have suggestions about baking in the UK? I have trouble converting U.S. recipes with flour here... things aren't the same, measurements seem off etc. Thanks for any help.

  1. If you're going to be cooking from US recipes a lot, get a set of US measuring cups and spoons. And remember that Imperial volume measures are 25 percent bigger than the US version: cups/pints are 10/20 ounces, not 8/16.

    I just got back from a visit in England where I did some cooking from metric recipes -- I guess that's the way all the newer repices are done now. It's really difficult from someone used to US measurements to try to shop and cook in a combination of Imperial and metric!
