Yikes, sorry I posed this on not about food because this Home Cooking Board is new to me (I haven't checked in for awhile).

I bought a cheap Koch digital themometer from ebay and it didn't come with any instructions. Does anyone know if digital thermomters are oven-safe or instant-read?

I think it depends on whether there is a long probe attached which allows you to keep the main part [circuits, housing, etc.] outside of the oven. The heat of the oven would melt those sensitive parts otherwise.

Perhaps you could post the model.
