I want to make a Cherry Crumble pie for Thanksgiving. Of course, fresh cherries are out of the question. I'd like to use the bottled cherries from Trader Joes. But I was wondering how I could make the substitution? The recipe calls for 2 1/2 pounds (pre-pitted)fresh cherries and the bottled stuff says that, drained, the contents weighs 12 ounces. Do you think three bottles would equal the amount required? This gets kind of confusing because I'm not sure how much 2 1/2 pounds of cherries would weigh after they have been pitted.
