My wife has been hinting about Santa bring her a self contained Chai/hot chocolate maker that froths the milk. Has anybody used one? Any comments or recommendations about brrands etc. would greatly be appreciated.

My husband, who is Indian, told me that in India they just boil milk, tea leaves, spices and sugar in one pot and that is chai. Perhaps you can get an espresso machine that has the frother and use that??

There is a great article in the NYTimes by Mira Nair about her daily ritual of making chai in the morning. You can follow her instructions and make a traditional India chai.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to go to the archives and check it out.

I found the machine my wife wanted . It's called "Coco Latte" by Back to Basics. It is a very low tech type gadget. It heats up your chai, keeps it warm and allows you to froth and refroth as needed. She loves it.
