Candied cherries - my sister's fruitcake recipe

My sister refuses to give me her fruitcake recipe, but she's too tired to make it anymore.

I know she candies her own cherries. How can I do that?

I think I can wing most of the rest of the recipe. It's one of the ones that has only cherries, pineapple, and pecans.

I would like that recipe since my kids will not touch all the other stuff most cooks put in their fruitcake. Happy Holiday!
