I'm considering replacing the circa 1979 microwave (enormous but still works perfectly) with a combo microwave/convection oven because our upcoming kitchen remodel is going to leave us without a regular oven for several months.

There seem to be far fewer combo models available than there were 10 years ago; nevertheless, the Whirlpool is now at the top of my list for size, looks, and logic. It's about $400 and I don't have any reason to go higher since I have a convection option in my regular oven already. And, though I'd really prefer not to have to rely on a microwave for more than, say, a day or two, I'll live with it if these combo ovens are made so poorly as to be frustrating or annoying.

Can anyone who already has one of these provide a brief "love it or hate it" or a rationale for buying a similar model (same price range) by another brand?

Thanks so much, in advance,

Christine (L.A. Hound)
