I am reviving this thread to ask who has the best donuts this year for Chanukah. Brooklyn preferred, but if you have a favorite anywhere else in NYC please let me know.

    Thanks

I bought several from Kaff's Bakery (on ave M) this week. They had caramel, custard, jelly and plain. plain were $1 each, all others were $1.25. They seemed fresh and we loved them.

Even though I'm a bit late, the best donuts in Brooklyn are definitely at Chiffon's bakery on Coney Island Ave. , bet. Ave. j & k. Not only do the donuts themselves taste great but they are so overfilled with jelly or custard that a bib might be necessary while eating them. I know that they make them every Sunday but I am not sure what weekdays they have them available. Try them!!

due to this thread, I went to their Nostrand & M location to get custard & jelly sufganiout, those Israeli doughnuts. the place is filty, service is rude, no discount for the dozen. each doughnut was irregularly small, bready like challah, and most lacked adequate filling, while a few were undercooked. I would never go there again, and certainly not for Channuka specific baked goods. I took them to 5-towns where they are spoiled by Zomicks, and was embarressed to serve them to my quests.

If you want Israeli style donuts, Amnons pizza shop on 13th Ave makes them.

I don't know specifically what kind of donuts Amnon's sells, but in Israel the donuts are basically fried dough filled with jelly or caramel - no holes, and usually no glaze. They also taste a little different, although I'm not sure of the exact ingredients.

Schreibers' has donuts now for chanuka, they have 2 locations one on nostrand off of Ave M and one on Avenue M below Ocean Pkwy east 4th(?)
