kosher gift ideas...
with the holidays soon coming i need to start thinking about what to give as gifts. some of the gifts have to be kosher and since i'm not kosher i don't really know what's good, what's not. i'm looking for higher end quality, roughly $300/person. i was thinking along the lines of a nice kosher red wine. any favorites anyone can recommend? or if not wine recs, then any kosher gift recommendations are welcome. thanks in advance.

If you are spending that kind of money, why not get kosher fois gras (French Delice brand)? It's so expensive most people who keep kosher have never tried it. In fact, I've asked on this board and never heard of anyone who'd gotten it. You can get it in several stores in NYC or on-line below. I've never ordered from this place, or tried the kosher fois gras, but I'd be thrilled to get it as a gift! Thank you.

i probably should've mentioned that i'm trying to avoid gift baskets to keep things simple, so i'm looking to buy one nice gift rather than several items. however, thank you for your input.

You might want to look at the Rue Lafayette web site. They import a large number of kosher products from France including all the kosher Payard pastries and some wines.

Here are several kosher reds that I wouldn't mind receiving from family/friends, along with price from http://www.kosherwine.com :
1. Yarden Katzrin Red 2000 $99.99/bottle
2. Castel Grand Vin 2002 $46.99
3. Castel Petit Castel 2003 $29.99
Haven't had any of them yet, actually-still waiting on those relatives/friends to bring as gifts:-).
Also, shipping to some states can be a problem. See: http://www.wineinstitute.org/shipwine
and click on 'state shipping laws' ON TOP.
Some shippers prefer not to ship to some states, such as Maryland, due to restrictive laws. Thanks, Maryland!
I hope this is helpful.
