Does anyone know if there is completely kosher Dairy Queen anywhere in the US?
If there is not a Dairy Queen that is under hashgagah, does anyone know about the kosher status of their ice cream? Is it made in a supervised factory? There is no info on their website and no contact email.
Thanks,
David

Not direcly on point: there is a former DQ in Highland Park, NJ which is under oversight of the local Vaad. I cant say that I taste the difference in product myself since soft serve from a mix doesnt vary much.

I'm no ice cream maven, but the notion that all soft-serve ice cream is alike strikes me as overly generalized.

For example, in Flatbush, there is a cholov yisroel shomer shabbos ice cream store on the corner of Coney Island Av and Avenue L (sorry, can't remember the name). Its product is mediocre, at best (not just the pareve, but the dairy too), compared to any of the local Carvel's, which, while not cholov yisroel or shomer shabbos, are all reliably certified and delicious.

A few years ago, this very question regarding the kashruth status of DQ puzzled me, and I, too, found no information on their website nor an email. Sounds like they haven't changed their website very much. But I did fax my question, as I found an area of the website that gave a fax number if a consumer had further questions (perhaps there was also a mailing address, but I faxed instead).

Sadly I never heard from DQ, not by email, return fax, or snail mail.

I have heard that DQ is ice milk, though.

Clarification on Carvel - while all Carvel product is certified by reliable organizations *not* all Carvel stores are kosher. Store certification is up to the franchisee and each has the option of using whomever they choose to certify (if anyone at all). Also, although it is against Carvel corporate policy, some store go "off menu" and use a variety of non-kosher toppings such as gummi bears and the like. FYI.

It left the DQ franchise some time ago (before it was under oversight of the Vaad of RV). But the experience is quite the same as "Dairy Deluxe" as the building hasnt changed and the product is substantially similar as before. One key difference is the lack of franchise cleanliness and product standardization.

On balance thought it serves a purpose: I agree that not all self serve it the same, but this is the local hangout.

Also, this is one of the few places in town where the various sectors of the community intereact consistently.

Come to Saint Louis and try Ted Drewes which is under the supervision of the Vaad of Saint Louis. Very few items are not certified. It is an old route 66 stand serving frozen custard and concretes. The one on Chippawa is kosher.
