I'm planning a vacation in Miami or somewhere else in Florida and wanted ideas of a nice hotel to stay at that is near kosher dining. Also, does anyone know of any restaurants (in FL) that are open shabos- that i can pay before and eat there on shabos?
We stayed at the "Four Points by Sheraton," which is on the ocean at 43 St, in the heart of frum Miami Beach. It was a very decent hotel, and the same owners own 3 adjacent properties (almost as nice, I think) too. With two adults and 3 kids, we rented a suite and it came with a kitchenette, so we bought our own food and served ourselves. We got the food from Talia's Cookies in Hollywood. Despite the name, Talia's is actually a prepared-food/takeout store that sells kosher grocery products too. The cookies (from their bakery section) weren't so great, but the rest of the food was quite good. We managed two v. nice shabbat meals (on paper and plastic, of course).
There have been a few posts about nearby restaurants that offer prepaid shabbat meals. Nothing to write home about, as I recall.
BTW, the hotel has a very nice pool + beach access. It also has a trayf restaurant, but depending on your level of observance, you can cobble together an acceptable breakfast of fruit, yogurt and cereal (for breakfast buffet prices, of course).
