KOSHER SALAMI

Which brand of kosher salami is considered to be the best? I'm not interested in Hebrew National.
Thank you.

    1. Abeles and Heymann. A little more difficult to find outside NY/NJ but if you can, i would grab it. Nice and garlicky and made in an old world style. Reminds me of salamis my grandfather would make.

Honestly, that is the only commercial one I buy. If I want good salami, i just make it.

Thank you. Do you know of other items this company makes that are good?

I particularly like their liverwurst, cervelat, and rauchfleisch as these can be hard to find.

I live in Baltimore, and we get most of their products here. No kosher hot dogs beat A & H's, but I do have to say their kishka is not to my liking.

How does one make salami? Would you be willing to share your recipe?

You gotta tell us your Salami recipe too....
now I am curious and cant wait to hear about it.

                    2. If you can find Frederic Buchinger salami anywhere in the United States you will literally go bananas!

I am not properly kosher so eat a bit of treyf salami, but feel better not eating it-- in any event, this salami is made in Strasbourg in France and tastes just like 'real' salami, although made of beef. Really, this stuff makes any American kosher sausage taste like bologna!

I didn't really mention in the previous post but that stuff is fully kashrut by the Grand Rabbinat de Strasbourg

                          • What! No one has mentioned Romanian Salami from Chicago? There are people around the world that beg people from Chicago to bring some with them when they visit.

I was thinking the very same thing - and I am one of those people when I travel to visit family and friends I carry a salami - and a few hot dogs to boot

Our old (non-Jewish) neighbors relocated to California several years ago and made a point of stopping at Romanian on a recent Chicago trip to pick up an assortment of products to take back home.
