Apple juice requires a hashgocha because clarifying agents might be added. I don't know if the risk is any less with cider in particular, but the clarifier often used in juice is called chitosan which is made from crustaceans. With today's food science it's hard to know how many other ingredients / colors / preservatives might be a problem. Just one example - the blueberry flavor in yogurt can be made of 65 components.

Clarifying agents are *not a problem*, because they're filtered out together with all the gunk they precipitate from the juice. The exact same issue exists with beer (clarified with isinglass, which is 100% treif), and sugar (used to be processed with blood, now bone charcoal is used); the accepted halacha is that this is not a problem. (There was a teshuva of the Tzemach Tzedek printed in Kovetz Yagdil Torah ~20-25 years ago about sugar processed with blood, showing why it doesn't matter.)

See also the Nodeh B'Yehudah, Yoreh Deah Simon 26, who I believe permitted the use of isinglass as a clarifier.
