9 Days request: Fish in Manhattan

  • w

I am looking for a good source of fresh/raw fish in Manhattan. Where do you city-folk go?

      Looking for a fish monger.

There's a nice one on 88th and Broadway, two doors south of Murray's Sturgeon Shop. I've never shopped there, so I don't know much about it (and I don't think it's kosher), but I've heard good things. I usually get my fish at Fairway. I don't know of any Manhattan kosher mongers, but there are a few in Williamsburg.

The fish shop near Murray's is Jake's. They're not kosher but they keep a kosher knife and perhaps board. It can be complicated if you want to buy something that's already been cut up (like tuna) if that's a problem. Now I buy my fish at Fairway.
