Madras Cafe in East Village -- Yummy Kosher Indian

If you haven't been to the Madras Cafe, an all-vegetarian Indian place that is very good, very inexpensive and is supervised by Rabbi Ackerman, a halachic kind of guy.

Hi Jim, thanks for the welcome.
What can I say...I went to Israel for four months and "Yidd-ed Out"! I am determined to find decent kosher food. A real chalenge. A new fave is Cafe K an all-fresh grilled fish place that is small and chic...and cheap too. It's off of Coney Island Avenue on Avenue K. Try the fish kabobs, they are great and priced at $6.50, most items there are $7-$10. It's good clean food. Also, I've become a fan of Gottlieb's awesome $9.00 steak. A total bargain in Hasidic Williamsburgh.

I'm a regular there, since shortly after they opened. A true breath of fresh air amid all the Bangladeshi places on 6th St. I like their soups, masala dosas, and utthapams. Delicious desserts, too.
