craving panelle

other than going to ferdinando's, is there anywhere else in the city that i can get a panelle sandwich, or any other sicilian street snacks?

          • Here's a hot tip...Bar Matchless on the corner of Manhattan & Driggs in Greenpoint, Brooklyn started serving food a couple of months ago, and recently added a PANELLE SPECIAL to the bar menu! Not only is it an excellent version of the Sicilian specialty, but it is available until 3AM! I'm certain that this is the first time the Panelle sandwich has ever been served in this kind of environment. Truly old Brooklyn meets new Brooklyn. Check it out!

                    Pitu,
                    "Panelle special" is the name of the sandwich made with panelle, ricotta and hard cheese in a bun. And for example, the Panelle Special has been on the menu at Ferdinando's every day for the last 100 (?) years. So there is no reason that it is an everyday it at Bar Matchless as well.
