Mystery cake - Mother's Riverdale

I am trying to track down a cake my father can't forget from his childhood. He describes it as being from Mother's bakery in Riverdale. The cake is an individual-portion cake - a flat on the bottom, domed half yellow cake, filled with cream, covered with a chocolate coating with some criss-crosses etched in the top.

Has anyone else had this cake and remember what it was called?

Thanks

  1. Don't know off-hand, but Mother's is still there on 235th St. Next time I'm walking by, I'll stop in and inquire (not one of my favorite bakeries, BTW - it's pretty mediocre overall, although it might have been better in your father's youth).
