When iI lived in Amsterdam I developed a real love for the various Indonesian Rijstafels. When I moved back to the states I have searched and to no avail, found a restaurant that serves this magnificent meal.
I did find some poor substitute in Brooklyn. Looking preferably in Manhattan !

Bali Nusa Indah ( 651 9th Avenue, between 45th & 46th) does one. Inexpensive, and pretty good. Decor is not so good.

I go to Upi Jaya in Queens and either order a combination plate with rice ($7.50) or go with a bunch of friends and eat family-style. This place is one of the better choices for Indonesian food. Check the Outer Boroughs board for postings on this place.
