Colbeh in Great Neck long island is very good, the colbeh in the city isn't too great--they are kosher persian..there is also ravagh which has location in the city, and in Rosyln,-been to the Rosyln one which is pretty okay, never went to the Manhattan one, but I would think it's worth a try--they are not kosher.

There's a place called Ravagh (something like that) that is supposed to be really good, in Manhattan, on 30th between 5th and Madison. Do a search on Persian and you should find some old posts.

I sometimes get lunch from there. It's OK, but nothing to write home about. I seem to remember reading that the ownership changed hands a while back, and that it's now indian guys running the place (though it's still ostensibly persian). Anyway, I've definitely had persian food I liked better--though not in NYC.

persepolis on 2nd ave (btwn 74th and 75th i think) for my favorite joojeh kabob- chicken/onion/saffron/lemon yumminess. their ground beef kabob is also excellent. their eggplant appetizer is super greasy and not worth getting.
recently tried ravagh for the first time, and it wasn't memorable enough for me to give any details.
