I'm thinking of doing this. I called one place and they said they freeze the item, vacuum pack it, and FedEx it on dry ice. I'm a little hesitant hearing the word freeze. Has anyone done this, was it still miles better than anything in NYC?

Thanks,

Smoky John's bbq in Dallas does this. I ordered from there. Ribs and brisket were terrific, no problems.

The Salt Lick Bar B Que in Texas ships and does an excellent job...very responsive. I have had it shipped to me and to others as gifts with no problem. Everything they have is good, but the brisket is probably their best item. They have a website, so if you do a quick search you should be able to find it. Just beware, the shipping costs are very high, and I don't think they give them to you until the final screen....It really ratchets up order price.

We order from Willy Ray's in Beaumont Texas three or four times/year. I've listed their website below, but I'd recommend calling them directly at 409-832-7770. I think it's better than any of the brisket I've had from Pearson's or Blue Smoke here in NYC. I also prefer it to the Salt Lick's brisket. The Salt Lick cooks directly over coals instead of high smoke and moistens the brisket with bbq sauce while cooking. It's good, but I prefer the more traditional approach of Willy Ray's. Also recommended are the hot links, smoked chicken and pork roast. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, try the carrot souffle.
