The best is '' Malaysia Restaurant''- in Chinatown Arcade near corner of Canal and Bowery. Run by an Ipoh family.
I have eaten at hundreds of Malaysian restaurants both in the U.S. , around the world and in Malaysia were I was posted in 1980-81 and where I return every other year.
I can find none better than this . It has been MFRITW [my favorite restaurant in the world] for 2 decades. Very reasonable prices.

GM - Does this include Nonya on Grand? If so I will check out your recommendation next time I'm in NYC!
Thanks

Taste Good, in Elmhurst, is the restaurant that the Singaporean mission to the U.N. relies on when they host a catered affair; the Malaysian mission also holds them in high regard.

How is the one in NYC as Taste Good II? If #1 is accesible by subway I'd make a go for it.

Sorry, chilibeanpaste, I don't understand your question. I can say, though, that Taste Good is accessible by subway, and the food I've had there has always been good. The restaurant recently changed owners but not kitchen staff or menu; I hope the quality of the food holds up.

Dave - Taste Good's menu says they have another restaurant at 53 Bayard Street, NYC 10013 - which would put it in Chinatown I think - called Taste Good II. Just wondered how it compared with Taste Good in Elmhurst. Sorry for the confusion.

Which menu are you looking at? The Bayard St. location closed a few years ago.

squid kun - I was looking at the Taste Good menu shown at the link Dave posted on 4 May. It shows two restaurants on the cover.

I'm not seeing that menu on Dave's Eating in Translation link, but it must be out of date. 53 Bayard is now a Cantonese seafood place called Three Ocean. Three Ocean succeeded another Cantonese seafood place called East Ocean. There hasn't been a Malaysian restaurant on Bayard for quite a while.

squid kun - Yah I now see the menu is dated 2002! Will have to make the trek to Elmhurst next time in NYC.
