Due to a family emergency, my fiance and I are moving our westcoast wedding to NYC sometime in June.

We are desperately in needed of help finding a restaurant to host our wedding. We have a pretty generous budget and a healthy appetite.

We're looking for a place most tasty, but also festive and comfortable. Downtown/Brooklyn is our vibe.

We'll have anywhere from 50 to 80 guests and we hope to takeover an entire restaurant.

Your thoughts, suggestions, brainstorms will be TREMENDOUSLY appreciated.

well I don't know if the food is quite what you're looking for, but I do know that Bubby's in Dumbo is available for weddings and big parties - they have a huge space with river views and their prices are reasonable. the food though is ok - nothing fabulous so it may not be up to your standards - it's primarily comfort food with some southern and bbq dishes, but perhaps you can work with them on the menu to get dishes along the lines of what you're looking for.

My wife and I threw a wedding party last September for 65 at the Waterfront Museum (www.waterfrontmuseum.org), a non-profit barge on Gowanus Bay in Red Hook. It's docked at the Columbia Street esplanade immediately before the Erie Basin, and in the shadow of the Port Authority Grain Terminal. A dramatic, industrial locale.

Contact is David Sharps, a professional clown and museum president who also lives on the barge with his family. He restored the old Lehigh Valley Railroad barge beginning in the 1980s. Renting the barge gets you the dock too. We had tables on the dock, and the buffet and bar in the barge. David's very open and amenable, and has a sound system.

We had Loren Michele of Naturally Delicious caterers at the southern end of Court Street supply the food, rentals, flowers and staff, and she did a fantastic job. I can't recommend her highly enough. Apart from the passed appetizers, we also had a table of Jewish food and another table of Southern food, followed by dessert.

Good luck. P.S. Get a good photographer. We cut corners there and it's my only regret. Disposable cameras on each table saved the day. And if you go for the barge, double check the reliability of David's sound system.

My sons school just hosted a successful fundraiser at 200 Fifth Avenue this past Sunday in Brooklyn. They have a seperate room on the second side where we had about 120 people. I got some pictures of the event which was beautiful as well as very tasty. If you email me, I would be happy to send you the pictures so you can see how it looked. We had passed hors d'oeuvres for 1.5 hours and then speeches and then dinner buffet. THe buffet was gorgeous with lots of nice flower arrangements and the food was diverse and extremely tasty. I am on the executive board of the PTA and could also get you all the contact information.
