Frozen Tiny White Onions?

I have a slowcooker recipe for a chicken stew with bacon, mushrooms and pearl onions. Frozen pearl onions. Not in a cream sauce. I have checked three grocery stores in my neighborhood and near work (Food Emporium at 86th & 2nd, Gristedes on 86th between 1st & 2nd, and Associated on 2nd at 48th). None of these have frozen pearl onions. Of course I can just buy pearl onions and par-cook them, but I'd like to follow the original recipe at least once before making any changes. Has anybody ever seen frozen pearl onions without a sauce in Manhattan? If so, can you tell me where?

They are very available. Don't look for them in the boxes, but in the somewhat larger bags -- where there are also carrots, peas, mixed vegetables, etc.

They have them at the Fairway on Broadway and 74th.

    2. They are a great replacement for even fresh pearl onions since you don't have to bother with the peeling. Ina Garten apparently uses them all the time instead of the fresh. After I heard about them I've not used regular ones again. Just make sure t use a good brand the cheaper ones sometimes have a definite freezer taste.
