Was just across the pond for holidays, in Glasgow, and fell in love with mince pies, the mini ones, with a crumbly, shortbread crust, dusted with granulated sugar (gotten at Miss Cranston's, off Buchanan Street, for those who want the details). Eating those babies was a near-religious experience, what with the combination of the spicy filling and buttery crust - OH-MY-GOD!

I know it's a seasonal thing, but is there anywhere in the NY area (Westchester, the Bronx or Manhattan, pref.) where I could find them?

TIA!

Myers of Keswick on Hudson Street in Manhattan carries the standard Mr. Kipling brand around Christmas. They'll do in a pitch. It's also possible to make your own -- I've used muffin tins, which yield a slightly higher proportion of filling than the ones I've had in Britain, a good prepared filling, and a good homemade shortcrust. Delightful.

I believe that Myers of Keswick actually makes their own mini-ones. Don't know if they'll have them anymore now that the holidays are over.
