Grey Shrimp

Where can I find a fish monger in Manhattan that sells grey shrimp?

    1. After years of consuming and purchasing shrimp in NYC, I have never heard of "grey shrimp", if you mean that as a variety or species of shrimp (such as grey sole--which I have heard of, have eaten, and is delicious and pricey, too).
Perhaps you simply mean that the shrimp are grey in color--which is the color that all common shrimp--whether fresh, or frozen, or thawed--should be. Shrimp only turn the classic pink color, of course, when cooked. As an aside, it seems that almost all shrimp in NYC stores--even those which appear raw--in fact arrived frozen and were thawed--so don't refreeze shrimp--quality will suffer.
In any event, go to the Grand Central market and talk to the experts at Wild Edibles, or the other fishmonger at the front of the market (name escapes me, but also seems to have a good selection). Citarella stores are also very good.

grey shrimps are called crevettes in France and Belgium - famous for its tomates aux crevettes. I have been looking for those for a long time! I belong to a Culinary club and would look to offer Belgian cooking with "crevettes" Thanks,
