Rumble's Chocolate Whipped Cream Cake

Here's my long-lost craving. There was a small cafe on Christopher Street in the Village, called Rumble's (sp?). They had a spectacular cake, which was two layers of devil's-food cake, with a whipped-cream center layer, and a thin layer of light chocolate frosting. Man, was that good! I believe the owner said that it was his mother's recipe, and possibly made by her. The cafe and the cake are gone. But the memory lingers on. Does anyone remember this cake? Does anyone remember the cafe? Does anyone have the recipe?
Thanks.
Danny

I don't remember that specific cake, but I used to eat their carrot cake.. I remember 2 brothers that worked there, my friend knew one of them. I used to go in there all the time. They told me their mother baked all the cakes. It was always something I wanted to do as the store was so cute to me and I always wanted to bake. I now own a operate Key West Cakes in Key West florida.
I was just in N.Y. last week for my father's 90th birthday and took a picture of the store front. I have such fond memories of the place. So glad you wrote about it. Sorry I can't help you with the recipe.

I went to Rumble's a couple of times in the 70s I think but probably never had that cake or I would have remembered it.
