When I lived in Britain, I fell in love with these packaged cakes called Battenberg Cakes. They were pink and white sponge cake, coated in apricot jam and wrapped with yellow marzipan.
I've never seen them here, and am getting a real craving for them. Has anyone found them in Manhattan or Brooklyn?

Have you tried Myers of Keswick (634 Hudson St., 691-4194)? They're a great source of all things English in NYC.
