I don't know if I would consider this a "craving" but, rather, a "fondness."

I always felt that the best part of popcorn was those half-popped kernels of popcorn that migrated down to the bottom of the bowl. They had a lot more corn flavor in a smaller package with a more satisfying bite than the fully popped kernels.

Anyway, I came across "PopNots" which is a whole can filled with those underdeveloped kernels. I saw in in Fairway (Plainview) and certainly satisfied my popcorn fetish. It comes in original, nacho cheese, cheddar cheese and butter flavor however I see no reason to go beyond the original flavor.

Anyone else have a "fondness" for these?

I thought I was the only one with this fetish. Thanks for the steer, I'll be looking for those Popnots. No more hovering around MF's popcorn bowl, watching eagle-eyed for the half-popped kernels anymore, mwah-ha-ha-ha!

Healthy Pleasures (at least the University Place/11th St. edition) has underpopped popcorn in bulk, organic, sea salt, etc., and it's quite inexpensive. (You can scoop your own, as little or as much as you want.) The bag I copped was pretty fresh, and yeah, Michele, your molars won't exactly thank you....

I prefer this so much over popcorn that I scrounge around in the bottom of the bowl/bag/box until I find some kernels--let others eat that styrofoam called popcorn!

There is a great product called Glad Corn ... I am totally addicted to it. Plain, with just some sort of salt - delicious. I get it at Whole Foods here in San Francisco, and it is available online.
