Looking for Regal Crown Sour Cherry Candy
Looking for a candy that was popular in the late 1960's and 1970's called Regal Crown Sour Cherry Candy, it was sold in a roll and each candy was individually wrapped in waxed paper. I believe it was imported from England. Was wondering if anyone knows if it is still sold or perhaps bought out by another company and marketed under a different name.
Unfortunately, I don't think they make that candy anymore. :-(((

I loved them, too! I can taste them so exactly...for some reason, I retain really vivid palate memory of my childhood faves.
Quick research indicates they're unavailable. But since Quisp came back (albeit with a different recipe) and Flint's BBQ came back, the lesson is to never give up hope, ever (see my article on this, at link below)

I remember them so well my mouth waters. . . .
I hadn't thought about them in so long that I didn't know they weren't made any more. Not much of a candy freak these days--my palate is much more fat-to-salty than sweet-to-sour.
In grade school, we weren't allowed to have candy, but I managed to convince my teacher that my Regal Crown Sour Cherry (and Lemon! and Orange!) were cough drops.
I also fancied that Turkish Taffy everyone keeps pining for on this site. Banana, vanilla . . . . It's kind of amazing that I still have all my teeth!
I checked at hometownfavorites.com and even THEY don't have the Regal Crowns. Sigh. But the good Dr. Leff is right: Someone could well bring them back!

This is a pretty cool site for people looking for candy from their childhoods. They say that Regal is indeed discontinued.

I was in New York a few years ago and my friend asked me if I had ever had this candy "Regal Crown Cherry Sours" I said no thanks, I didn't like candy.
OK WRONG ANSWER...He convinced me to try them and THEY WERE WONDERFUL. Now, years later..in Alabama still thinking about them, I thought to do a search and see if I might could order some from the net. I see that they are no longer with us. My heart is broken. :-(
We need to get them back!!!!!!!!!
Thanks.... Nicki in Bama

wow...i last had some regal crowns (cherry, orange, lemon, and raspberry....also, a variety pack)about 3 or 4 years ago at a Cracker Barrel restaurantin Stuart, Florida. Alas, I stopped in this week with the casual idea of using them for stocking stuffers...when the Deliverance Geek at the register shrugged that he had never heard of them.PANIC! Sure that the net would save me, I have found this message board only to find that I probably had some of the very last batch...the sublime bend of sweet, sour, and the incredible depth of flavor...your head swam in the taste...now a lingering ghost. Oh well, onto the search for a Fanny Farmer Pecan Fudge Roll.

Have you had any luck at all finding this delicious candy. I have just started hunting for them for a friend as a surprise birthday thing. We talked about them all Labor Day.

Ask someone you know who travels to pick them up at the airport in England -- they are most certainly still around.

Please don't tell me that this candy no longer exists. I've been searching "High and Low" perhaps for the last 20 years. Every once in a while I got lucky and stumbled across a small candy store that had a roll or two of these (usually in the assorted roll). This hasn't been the case for the past 5 years. I bought out what the Cracker Barrell Rest. in Lakeville, MN had around that time. I've gone as far as writing the Regal Crown Co. (about 15 years ago and pre-internet) inquiring if they would ship me some. They wrote back claiming that it was sold throughout Minnesota (I believe through the Pearson Co.) but I haven't had any luck finding it. I can't tell you how much I miss this candy. Can someone please point me in the right direction on if and where I can locate my first true love?
Thank you!

Regal Crown Sour Lemon candies were fabulous too.
I think they were still sold until about
five years ago but, alas - no more.

I posted about these in October, and despite some good leads haven't been able to locate any. I, like Jim (and probably the rest of you), can still taste these. It is my single favorite flavor in the world and it kills me that i can't have them. I've done a LOT of research (though not to much end) and found that while they were discontinued a while ago, some stores had leftover stock that you could occasionally find as recently as 4 years ago...now they appear to be long gone everywhere. There HAS to be something we can do about this - the fact that they were available so recently just KILLS me...and yet I can't even find direct contacts for the company or anyone affiliated with it. What to do?

I have had RCs within the last year -- probly more recently than that. I don't know if they are still made, but i got them and could get them again if only i could remember where i got them! I think it was at the newsstand inside the Herald Square subway station (34 St. & Sixth Ave.) I will send my research team out immediately and report back to yall. Tell your tastebuds to pucker up.

I just wanted to express my appreciation for the way these boards can reach into parts of the memory bank that under different circumstances would have been sealed off decades ago.
I mean, Regal Crown Sour Cherry Candy. Not exactly a Candy Hall of Famer. I vaguely remember eating those in the late 60s. If I ever travel back in time, I'll make sure to pick up enough for everyone. :>)

According to the Hometown Favorites website, these candies as well as many others are simply no longer available. This includes Adams Sour Apple Gum, too. DAMN!

Unhappily, I think this candy is off the market as well. It's a shame because it was the best! I too have been looking for it to no avail.

Did you ever find them? They were about my favorite candy back in the 60's. Our movie show vending machine used to sell them and I have never forgotten them.

I was in a CVS drug store here in So Cal, was going to buy some Luden wild cherry cough drops and noticed that CVS had their own generic kind at almost half the price so I bought a bag. Initially I was disappointed that they didn't really taste like the Ludens, but then I realized a familiar taste - I swear, they remind me of the Royal Crown Sour Cherries, just not sour. My wife loved them.. Darn close. I wish someone else would try 'em and tell me what you think.

I worked at a hospital that sold these in the store and miss them greatly. The closest I've found are the Jolly Rancher large square suckers. These are more tart than the smaller individual candies and tough to eat as they are big, but they are very close to the Regal Crowns. PS, my wife thinks we're all nuts blogging about a candy. If only she knew.

I've been looking for Regal Crows Sour Cherry candy for a few years now and am very sad to hear that they have been discontinued, even by Cracker Barrel, where you can get seemingly everything from your past. Jolly Rancher is only a Wanna Be Regal Crown in my opinion, but probably the closest thing...oh well...Scott Buck Nashua NH

I loved this candy and I would pay $ 5.00 a roll to get the ole cherry sours again! The ABSOLUTE best candy ever made! Let me know if anyone comes up with them.

For years I've been looking and even looked in London. I'm resigned to the fact that we've lost this, the most excellent hard candy ever made. I didn't see anyone mention the orange flavor - that was my favorite, although I agree the Cherry and Lemon were to die for as well.

Fellow Regal Crown fan here, also searching "fruitlessly" for them for years, but am checking in with y'all because was just *extremely* reminded of them (hence my trying the web search again) by an unexpected treat..
Now, this isn't exactly a "chow" item, but it's RC through and through!!
The item in question is Litecig's (http://www.litecigusa.net) Cherry e-Juice for electronic cigarettes, so anyone who uses those who is also an RC fan will find their childhood thrill in this seemingly *exact* duplication of our long-craved-for flavour.
For those who don't know what an e-cig is, it's an electronic device which looks like a cigarette but vapourises a flavoured liquid, with or without nicotine, and gives the sensation of smoking without the carcinogenic additives. It's primarily used to wean smokers off cigs, or provide a safer alternative. Not pushing them here, just passing on this info for any fellow RC cravers who use them - this is your juice! I was stunned upon that first puff.. i thought, "it couldn't be.. but.. IT IS!! THE STUFF TASTES LIKE RC SOUR CHERRY!!".
SERIOUSLY!
Chow on, cravers!!

I remember my mom bringing boxes of these home to us from Ohio and I've been trying to find them for years. The closest thing I've found to them are the Sour Jolly Ranchers. The cherry flavor is strikingly similar to Regal Crown Sour Cherries.

I was just describing this candy to a co-worker who had never heard of it. The conversation occured because I was drinking water with Crystal Light Pomegranate Cherry in it. REALLY took me back. Isn't sense memory amazing?

Ohhhhhhhh - I wish it was made. I'm from the US - had it there when I was a kid....the sour cherry was the best, tho the lemon was great, too. I live in the UK now, and hoped I'd find it here. No luck...........yet. Never give up. Maybe somebody should scout out the old owners and recipe and restart the company!!! NOTHING is better than those sour cherry candies.......mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
