Can anyone suggest a moderately priced and tasty place to get dinner in the Union Square area? Fun/trendy atmosphere gets extra points, but the food is (obviously) the number one priority.

Before you get inundated with suggestions to go to Farallon or Scala's Bistro or Postrio, here is something that rarely gets mentioned on this board: Anjou on Campton Place alley, off the Square. It's a cozy and tiny French restaurant; good food and reasonably priced.

We ate at Anjou 2-3 weeks ago. Wasn't greatly impressed. Food is good but the seats are TOO close to each other. I'd go with Grand Cafe next time around.
