You can apparently eat lunch at the cafeteria in the Indonesian embassy here in NYC. Jim mentioned it in one of the net appearances he did recently. Sounds like serious stuff.

Jim: Wanna expand on this one?

You can also sample Indonesian stuff during the 9th avenue food festival, they have a lot of great satay stands then but I dont know where they go back to during the year.

i have eaten at bali nusa indah as it was (i thought) the only indonesian place in NYC and after being in Holland and inundated with yummy indonesian deliciousness, i NEEDED to find a place. i liked it ok...there were some interesting things on the 'rice table', but some dishes weren't great.
i have since found another place in the park slope section of brooklyn called java. it's on 15th street and seventh avenue and has decent indonesian for pretty cheap.
anyone else eaten there?

The embasy only serves the lunch Mon thru Thurs. I would guess one should call first.

I hear from reliable sources that it is very good, although authentic, i.e. maybe some items unaccustomed palates may find objectionable.
