the best of Humor

  • m

the best and even mysterious popsicle soldby the Good Humor man around 1959 wasthe banana split bar. Chocolate covered bananaice cream on a stick. So good that I am amazedno one has copied it in the ice cream industry. It appeared as a special only briefly--and only at the start of the season in March. Any oneremember it?? Have any books ever been written about the Good Humor company and brand??

  1. Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey is not entirely dissimilar, and I believe that there is a bar version of that flavor.

    1. Yes! I do remember the banana split bar. Didn't it have a little bit of red stuff in the center? I loved those bars! I wish they still made them.

I am responding to myself. Just found a popsicleproduct reasonably close to the Good Humor barI just described: Edys Creamy Banana WholeFruit Bar. I am not sure if it is literally ice creambut it is made with chunks of real banana chocolatecovered. This is a national brand.

You can also find a frozen product called Banana Bites, which is just 1-inch chunks of frozen banana with chocolate coating. It's hard to stick to the 'serving size' of three pieces, though.
