There's a Persian restaurant around the corner from my office. I've not been there yet, but a co-worker has been and has good things to say. It's called Kolbeh and is on 39th between 5th and 6th Ave. on the uptown side of the street.

BTW, anyone else try the full on Vindigo palm pilot program? It was in beta for a while, but they seem to have launched the full version today. Includes NY Times reviews now.

I downloaded Vindigo to my Palm this morning. It looks fantastic to me--it appears to list 2465 restaurants (not to mention movies, clubs, stores and walking directions to everywhere)

Do a search for Persian on the site and you'll come up with a bunch of previous listings. But my personal favorite (and rare genuine Persian restaurant) is Nader on 29th St, off Lexington. It's almost always empty sadly.

Nader is DELICIOUS. have also used them to cater for large parties, and they do an excellent job.

there's a dried fruit and nuts place sort of around the corner from Nader (run by the sister of Nader's owner) with wonderful sour cherry and mint syrups to make sharbat, almonds, all kinds of spices, beautiful gilded tea cups...everything you could ever want of persian cuisine and preparation.
