For what it's worth, the Grand Central Station Oyster
Bar "herring festival" starts on or around June 2 and
lasts a few weeks. For some reason, they can't
pinpoint a start date so they suggest calling first
I work at 50th and 3rd so my next trip north for lunch
is to Ulrika's.
There's a small blurb in the latest Time Out NY that
the Scandinavian herring have arrived and are being
served at the Oyster Bar and at Aquavit.
The herring is in at the Oyster Bar. They are serving
nieuw herring, raw herring filets with chopped onion,
chive, and boiled egg, with genever (an aged gin) as
the drink of choice to accompany it. I recommend it
