chubbys, if it's still around, they have the best greenburger, and they are excellent.

Chubby's is a very eccentric plase for Athens isn't it?

Well, if you want excellent Greek home-style food, I highly, HIGHLY suggest going to Taverna tou Psiri in the Ppsiri district by Monistiraki. It's amazing. Great eggplants, fried peppers, and many many other treats. Just ask what they have made fresh and order it.
Here's a link to their website: http://www.hit360.com/taverna-psirri/...
Every time my family goes to Greece (around once a year to visit relatives), we always go here. I suggest you do the same.

Spondi, in Varnava Square in Pagrati, is one of the best, if not THE best restaurant in Athens. We're talking about creative, modern cuisine which will cost you a lot, but which is totally worth it. Varoulko is also quite good (and expensive, too). Cheaper options - Yiantes, which uses only organic products, in Eksarchia, Aneton in Maroussi, and Aristera Dexia in Erythrea. In Anavyssos, any of the sea side tavernas are good. In fish tavernas be sure to go in the kitchen and check the fish you're eating. The waiter will weigh it for you and you can check for freshness. I haven't been in Chios. Generally steer away from tavernas that advertise their dishes in color pictures. They're the worst tourist traps.

On Spondi - amen Georgia Phoebe. Now that's a restaurant. I miss it so. It's been 2 years, but I'll be back in Athens this September, so you can bet it is on my list.

Logia tis Ploris has great and affordable seafood. Excellent cod and smoked eel in particular. If you google their name, they have a website with the location, etc.
