Quadrato is an impressive and underrated Italian restaurant in the Four Seasons Hotel. Also attached to the hotel is Ubon, sister restaurant to Nobu.

Some people like Plateau, the Conran place at the top of Canada Place, but I thought the food was very mediocre.

There's a newish American restaurant called Curve in the London Marriot which gets good reviews, although I haven't been

And there's Royal China-excellent Chinese food with a nice aspect onto the Thames

i had lunch at curve today--excellent black bass in miso and way better than id expect for a marriott

thanks for people who posted dinner recos for me--in the end i went to E2 for dinner at bistroteque on a friends suggestion--felt like a prohibition bar from the outside but delightful once we were in--well worth the trip--excellent simple cooking and a fantastic short winelist that was carefully picked for the food. i had a near perfect duck shepherds pie, preceded by a smoked mackerel which practically melted in my mouth--and very unpretentious--for example they were happy to serve our spinach steamed instead of brillat savarin'ed to death by butter
