Here's a link to the Borough Market. It's open on Fridays and Saturdays. I'll leave the pub info to the experts.

I have found 16 pubs with the word anchor in the name, but i presume you mean this one. Link below has all the details. It's not rated particularly highly but has great views.

BTW, the beerintheevening website is great for pubs in the UK. All reviews are by ordinary Joe's so not everyone is looking for the same thing and you may not agree with them, but it definately gives you a good idea of what a particular pub is about.

What you have found is definitely a different pub. The Anchor Bankside in Southwark is a nice place to go, but not for the food.
I believe the Anchor and Hope is nearer to Waterloo.

Joan,
you are quite right - I have found the 'real' Anchor & hope.
It looks great and near too, think I'll try it!

The Anchor and Hope is on The Cut, round the corner from Waterloo Station (close to the Young Vic theatre). Food is terrific in a stripped down, St John-esque vein, but the no-bookings policy and the popularity of the place typically means long waits unless you rock up at opening time.
This does make it a good candidate for pre-theatre eating, though, especially if you're heading for the South Bank.
