No way. Since I won't be in the city, going to the opera and doing fancy things, I will be ready for asados and simple food. Anything that is good is fine with me. RE: BA,Was it you who recommended Bella Italia and the French restaurant in Palermo. They seem fantastic! I am so tired of reading about Cabana las lilas that I may have to forego. I also made a reservation at the new restaurant in the Hotel Faena. I wonder what the reviews are like????

Stop being silly and try Cabana de Lilas...I know about how the travel writer in your newspaper wrote about it, etc..listen, any restaurant worth its salt (!!!) in any city in the world is going to be written about, that alone does not make it a tourist trap. I am giving you a little flack about the swanky thing but really, although Cabana is not swanky..it is big and a little loud..it is very very upscale Very. You will also like Sucre, more cutting edge and great food near Palermo.

Okay, you are making me laugh! I will give it a try. I mean, seriously. I don't just go to Commander's Palace and Emerils every night in my own city. I just want the best to celebrate my 40th. Besides, I'm staying at the good hotel anyway. So, I will give it a go. A little mix is good anyway.
Thanks for all the responses!

Mikey, I don't know if you caught my post for you a few weeks ago when you were looking for Swank in BA. My brother lives there and has been to Barriloche, I have gorgeous photos from him on that. If you will e-mail me I will put you in touch with him.

I spent 4 days in Bariloche a month ago .Prior to my visit,I had asked knowledgable argentinians about their recomendations, also upon my arrival i sought
other input from locals. After several lunches and dinners i discovered that the best restaurants are.
-Kandahar.a swiss inspired restaurant with a good wine list.
-Jau jau.A restaurant that has the same menu as most of the other local restaurants but does a better job.

If anyone is reading this, do not even think about skipping a dinner at Cassis. The best, hands down! Some of the best food I had in all of Argentina. Also, for a special place, have dinner or lunch at Hotel Correntoso. Fantastic views of the lake and mountains and wonderful food. This one is in Villa la Angostura.
