Any decent restaurants near Stroud?

Have been to the somewhat eccentric Painswick Hotel, but don't know th area or any other nearby good food places. Am staying in Painsick - any ideas??

Try Nailsworth. There are a couple of good ones plus a bakery offering excellent snacks (plus very good bread). Have coffee there on a visit to check out the restaraunts (menus posted outside) and view the other artists/ craftsperson-type shops.

If you can find it, try the Vine Tree Inn in Norton near Malmesbury. It is great although a bit off your track. Also, try the Rattlebone Inn in Sherston. You will need access to a car for both of these.
