Unbeleivably La Regalade is booked over a month in advance so my question is what could I replace it with given the good reviews on food and value?

Not so hard to believe. After more than a dozen years, the chef, Yves Camdeborde is leaving La Regalade at the end of April, turning the business over to another. All his fans want one last meal there before the captain hands the helm over to a more junior officer.

I second McMike's recommendation of l'Os a Moelle on rue Vasco da Gama in the 15th (Metro Lourmel, closed Sunday and Monday).

In the 13th, not far from the place d'Italie on the rue Bobillot is l'Avant-Gout, also closed Sunday and Monday. Its chef, Christophe Beaufront, is also making himself quite a reputation.

Finally, worth a rather long metro ride to the 20th, is Les Allobroges, on the rue des Grands-Champs (Metro Maraichers), where Olivier Pateyron holds sway. Wonderful food, good comfort. Kids very welcome.

All these places are in the neighborhood of 30 Euros per person without wine.
