I've heard that there is a French expat with a small goat farm a few kilometers outside of Ouagadougou where one can have lunch and sample his cheeses. Does anyone have any more information about this?

Also, any food recs for Ouaga (other than Les Pilliers and that pizza place (Le Verdoyen?))?

Yes, it's wonderful cheese. The cheese is available in the supermarkets, and the farm is close enough for an easy afternoon trip. I believe it is just out the same road that the Hotel Silmande is on (you go North at the Place des Nations-Unies), and then left at the Silmande, and then straight out for 20 minutes or so, and there is a sign on the left for the goat farm. To be sure, I would ask for directions either at your hotel, or at one of the supermarkets that carries his cheese.

You mean the place in Loumbilla? I'll be headed there myself for lunch in about 2 weeks. I have been told by friends in Ouaga it's not far at all on the northern road out of town, and is very tranquil. Hadn't heard they were known for their chevre--yum!

Liz (and anyone else!), I'd love any other food recommendations/musings for Burkina! We'll mostly be up in the desert (I take it the pickin's are slim), Bani, down near Nazinga and Po, Boromo area, and a quick visit to Bobo. Any restaurants to recommend, or particular dishes/regional things I should look for and ask for by name?
