Going down to Los Rocas for a quick break and need some suggestions for "lobster resturants" in Pureto Neuavo.

    1. Two words - Puerto Nuevo. About 15 minutes South of Rosarito Beach. Ortega #2 is one of the best. It's on the corner of the 2nd dirt side street off the main dirt road into Puerto Nuevo and is painted brown, entrance is on the side street. Wonderful lobster, not over-cooked and not drowning in butter or other grease. Well prepared sides and potent margaritas.

Even though it doesn't specialize in lobster, another don't miss in that neighborhood is La Fond in La Mision, about 5-10 minutes south of Puerto Nuevo. They have a patio set on the cliffs overlooking the ocean that makes you seriously feel like you are stuck in a time warp. Inside dining room is just as wonderful.......very dark and good for a romatic interlude. Food at La Fonda is usually excellent. It's a great stop at all times of the day, but I'm partial to breakfast right now. A great way to start the day.

Puerto Nuevo and La Mision are within easy driving distance of Rosarito Beach as well as Ensenada. Both are worth a visit for the food.

Ditto for La Fonda - Don't miss it!!! Unless they have changed chefs, don't eat at Los Rocas Hotel - pretty grim. But, that pool is great! also, be sure you don't have a standard room in the new building - also rather grim. The better rooms in the original building are great, tho - enjoy!
