We'll be staying in a flat in Carnac for a few days at the end of the month and I'm starting to collect places to eat that are close by - I thought about Roellinger, but 2.5 hours each way is a bit much for dinner... (too bad)

Any suggestions?

Thanks

There's a two-star in Carnac itself (P Joffrey, or something like that). But, yes, O Roellinger at Cancale is the obvious place to go (not that I liked it).

Sorry. I was thinking about Carentec or Carantac that has Joffrey's place.

For Carnac, La Roche-Bernard --> Jacques Thorel, magnificient wine list; reputed for seafood. I have never visited, but trusted dining companions like this place.

I've eaten several meals at Roellinger. He's the obvious party to visit in the region, but he's overrated in my book. The seafood raw materials are pristine, but seasoning is off in many cases (particularly the signature dishes with "Retour des Indes" or "Grand Caravan" in the name).

My mother was in Carnac a couple of years ago. She said the Carnac restaurant scene was a bit grim. It's a tourist town and the only reccommendation they were offered was for a Mexican restaurant.

They found numerous excellent choices in nearby Trinite sur Mer. It's a yachting town only 10 minutes away. Lots of delicious places. In addition, there is a 3-star resaturant, but she doesn't know the name.

The market in Carnac is excellent! Big, beautiful products, lots of samples.

She adds that the megaliths will be un-fenced at this time of year and are really amazing.
