Any recommendations for an excellent Sunday lunch within an hour of Cannes? I will be driving from Arles in the morning so locales west of Cannes would suit best geographically.

Looking for good - not too haute gourmet - solid regional Camargue/Provencale food and atmosphere.

In the hills/countryside is preferable to port/coastal venues.

Advance thanks for all advice.

WHOOPS, THERES ANOTHER PLACE IN NICE W/A SPANISH/ITALIAN SOUNDING NAME VERY GOOD W/A SET MENU, BUT I'LL HAVE TO RATTLE MY BRAIN. SORRY THAT I DONT HAVE ANYTHING WEST OF CANNES.
Yes - Madrid counts very much as it is one of my favorite cities. However, sadly, it is not on this particular itinerary.

Thanks for the nice Nice recommendations. I think that I have the Sunday lunch plan all sorted. Either:

1) Le Cagnard (Haut de Cagnes) - supposedly one of the best tables in France, but slightly geographically challenged for me this time.

2) Hostellerie du Gorges du Pennafort (Callas) - going only on the stellar recommendation posted on this board on Sept. 12 by Peter Hall. Check it out: he says that his girlfriend nearly cried because the pea soup was so beautiful. I think it speaks quite highly of both the meal and the girlfriend (Peter - if your girlfriend is available, please let her know she's invited to lunch this Sunday). The location is good for my voyage as well.

Thanks again. HP
