After eating your fabulously witty fare, I imagine the Diplomat will be begging his superiors for an extension of tenure.

very witty - how typically british -
actually that reminds me of a story - about 20 years ago when I was living in London with my then new British husband, my grandmother came for a visit. We took her to see the Thames Sailing Barge in St. Katherine's Docks that my husband was the banquet chef on. My 75 year old grandmother innocently asked the very good looking, very young owner "what kind of affairs do you have on the Lady G" to which he replied with a twinkle in his eye, "what kind would you like to have"
Over this side of the pond, a station it a mini buffet table set up - usually with one specific category of food. But when I read your post, I immediately thought what a great idea - set up the cheese station with signs from the underground. I once did that for a New York theme party - each station had a subway sign for the area of New York it represented e.g. Mott Street for Chinatown, Arthur Avenue for Italian Food, etc.

The party was a resonding success - even my staff was calling me the next day to rave about it.

My niece is trying to talk us into coming to London to cater some parties this summer. We did that last summer - helped cater her pre-wedding festivities (we wanted to be guests on the day so we declined that end of it) as well as some functions for Classical Partners (the classic music dating service). It was alot of fun and paid for our trip. I told the diplomat that they just needed to pay our airfare and for the food and we would come over to cater for them anytime. Hope they take us up on the offer. (By the way, my husband is a British citizen, so it is legal for him to work there)
