I am looking for somewhere to take my parents when they next come over to London and was wondering what the current feeling is on the OXO tower. I have heard some bad - overpriced, disappointing food and also some good - new chef, great food. I have not, however, heard anything recent and was wondering if anyone has been recently and could give me some up-to-date info.

Thanks
Rachel

Everything Howler and Steve think is wrong with eating in London is embodied in this vile travesty of a place. The food is almost inedible ( that's inedible Howler not UNedible:) and the prices are hugely over the mark. Service last time I was taken there by a well meaning but mis directed soul was laughable.

If you want to benefit from the view and eat something that you can keep in your stomach, try NEAT two floors down. It is not cheap, but his cooking is superb and the ambience and service are worth the prices

I had lunch at NEAT a few weeks ago,and while I agree it's better than the Oxo Tower, the set lunch was still pretty second rate given the prices.Nice view though.

Rachel- Oxo good for drinks, bad for dinner. If you want a view for dinner, I prefer Pont de la Tour in Butler's Wharf. It's a Conran run establishment and as such, not as discriminating as one would like. That's the tradeoff for a view. But you will be able to get an honestly cooked meal there. And unless you are really picky, (like Howler and myself, and even Simon who won't admit it), you would probably be happy there.
