Venice--Osteria Santa Marina opinions?
Has anyone eaten at (or heard anything about) a new restaurant in Venice called Osteria Santa Marina? I think it has been open about a year.
It's been there many years. Several years ago they redid the decor and created an upscale and varied menu. Both the food an the wine list are outstanding. Family owned and run, the service is friendly and informative. Ask for suggestions from the wine list which includes many small local producers. I have been going to venice 2 or 3 times ayear for 15 years and this has been one of my favorites in both of its incarnations.
We ate there last week for a light lunch before our evening reservation at Il Ridotto which was excellent. Place was pretty empty, we were the third table there. Food was good (Ravioli with seabass), porcini risotto and a mix of Cichetti but the service was terrible - waiter had a terrible attitude.
