A few days ago, my wife and I were deeply craving the foie gras at Club Gascon, but this being a Friday night and we had no reservation, we went next door to Cellar Gascon and took a nice cozy just-vacated corner table. We ordered a sensational Madiran from the excellent collection of inexpensive southwestern bottles, and filled the table with foie gras, charcuterie, bread, squid, asparagus, duck magret and cheeses. Two hours later, feeling incredibly happy in the same way as if we'd eaten next door, the bill came - only 20 pounds per person for the two of us !!!
