I am happy fat and tan here in Portugal! Happened upon an internet cafe today and thought I´d drop a line! Lots tpo report on when I return with the obvious highlights being Pasteis de Belem, seafood cataplana, bread and a million difrent grilled spiced meats.

    Great to hear from you, Rebecca. Ahhhhhh, Pasteis de Belem--heaven in a pastry cup. And the bread in Portugal is uniformly wonderful, isn't it. I hope your seafood experience has included lots of Almejas Bulhao Pato, because, despite the growing number of clams now available in the United States, the tiny, thin-shelled clams used for dish aren't available here. Also hope you made it to Mealhada for the suckling pig.
